If you are following this blog, you know that we have already written about the Kooh-i-Noor mechanical pencils here, so you can read all about the history of this famous Czech brand and the awesome wonder of the mechanical pencils in that post. Unfortunately, the Botas 66 concept store closed down about a month ago (we think the high rent must have played a role in that) so we have lost our most favorite place to get these awesome mechanical pencils and one of the best places, in our opinion, to do some great shopping in Prague.

Book a tour Get the guide Rent the apartment Rent the pocket wifiHowever, if you're on the search for a great souvenir from Prague (for yourself or for your friends, or your friends' children), don't be sad: Kooh-i-Noor has recently opened its small flagship store in the very centre of Prague, namely opposite the Powder Tower at the entry to the cut-through of the Czech National Bank building!
Yes, the store is very small, but very well made: designed by the designers of the Uhlik Architekti studio, the store displays a wide assortment of pencils, pens, crayons and other artistic accessories and stationery. On the floor, you'll see the iconic picture of the elephant that was imprinted on the eraser gum used by virtually all the Czech elementary and high school students. We love design that brings back memories, and we love to explain these memories to travelers who visit Prague.
So if you happen to walk by (and we are pretty confident you will), we recommend you pay them a visit. Kooh-i-Noor is an iconic brand here in Central Europe: when we visited RSVP, the great an hip stationery shop in the Mitte district of Berlin, they carried the Kooh-i-Noor pencils, too...
